Dr. Kristina Baszler


Dr. Kristina Baszler grew up in Rochester, Michigan. After spending an entire childhood dreaming of becoming a veterinarian, she attended Michigan State University to study animal behavior. She continued as a Spartan and graduated from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. Dr. Baszler’s first years of practice were in the Lansing area where she focused on equine and small animal medicine.

Dr. Baszler and her husband moved to beautiful Grand Haven in 2006. She narrowed her focus to small animal medicine and has taken specific interest in animal behavior, internal medicine, and senior wellness care.

Dr. Baszler and her husband have two daughters and one very spoiled rescued French Bulldog, Hazel. She enjoys reaching out to the community, especially teaching young schoolchildren about the profession that she adores and values so very much. In her free time, she enjoys horseback riding, running, and spending time at her cottage in Northern Michigan.


Dr. Andrea Verhougstraete


Dr. Andrea Verhougstraete has lived and practiced veterinary medicine in west Michigan since 2004. She is originally from the east side of the state and moved here to be near Lake Michigan. Dr. Verhougstraete earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology at Michigan State University, and then went on to graduate from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003.

Dr. Verhougstraete resides in Spring Lake with her husband and two young daughters. She shares her home with her rescued pets; a lab mix named Watson, and two cats, George and Lennie. She loves veterinary medicine and the new people and pets it allows her to meet. She is interested in preventative care, internal medicine, and geriatric care. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, biking, reading, and anything to do with Lake Michigan.


Dr. Erin Ricco


Dr. Erin Ricco grew up in the North Muskegon area and graduated from Reeths-Puffer High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at Michigan State University and stayed on to attend veterinary school. Dr. Ricco graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. She practiced small animal medicine in Fowlerville, Michigan for a few years before relocating back to west Michigan where her family and heart reside.

Dr. Ricco lives in Nunica, with her husband and two very active sons. They have two rescue dogs, Joee and Jersey, along with a cat, Jimmy. In her spare time, she loves all things outdoorsy. Dr. Ricco loves to run, bike, hike, and play softball and tennis. She is a huge sports fan and loves to attend Tigers, Lions, and Spartan games. Dr. Ricco has loved every minute of her veterinary career and has a special interest in nutrition, endocrinology, and surgery. Dr. Ricco is very excited to start this new step in her career with Lake Michigan Animal Hospital and looks forward to meeting you and your
pet.


Sara - Licensed Veterinary Technician


Sara grew up and continues to reside in Allendale. Her passion for helping animals and people led to a career as a veterinary technician. She graduated from Baker College in 2013 and is very excited to join our team! Sara’s favorite aspect of her job is the day-to-day variety that it offers. Sara and her husband are kept busy with three young daughters, a Shih-Tzu-Pit mix named Winston and two cats, Taco and Nacho. During her time off, Sara and her husband devote time to coaching t-ball to youth in Allendale. She also enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and playing basketball and softball.


Samara - Licensed Veterinary Technician


Samara grew up on a small farm in Howard City and spent many years participating in 4-H and horse shows. Her love of animals drew her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. In 2013, she graduated from Baker College as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. After graduating she worked at an emergency hospital for four years. She then moved to the lakeshore after meeting her husband. Her favorite aspect of veterinary medicine is that each day is different from the last, not to mention all of the cute patients! Samara lives in Zeeland with her husband Scott. They have a Great Pyrenees-Anatolian Shepherd mix named Lucy, two cats, Quill and Rocket and a flock of chickens. In her spare time she enjoys baking, gardening, hiking and spending time outdoors.



Angie- Licensed Veterinary Technician


Angie grew up on a farm in Coopersville, where her love of animals began. She graduated from Baker College as a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2007. She enjoys all the variety the job offers especially snuggling with kitties. She is very compassionate and has a love for all animals. She lives in Spring Lake with her husband, two young sons, and two cats, Cleo and Stanley and some back-yard chickens. When Angie is not working or chasing her sons, she enjoys being active
outdoors, baking and singing.
